    HISTORY


       UCO Bank was established in 1943 as The United Commercial Bank Ltd. The idea of a truly Indian bank was first conceived of by Mr. G.D Birla, the doyen of the Indian Industrial renaissance, after the historic “Quit India” movement in 1942.

       In 1969, the Bank was nationalized by the Government of India.

       In 1985, the United Commercial Bank changed its name to UCO BANK by an Act of Parliament.


       With more than 22,000 employees, UCO Bank is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World, according to Forbes.
